Eyebrows and Mustache

HB was commissioned to design and build a pair of awnings for a brand new mixed use studio. The simple design of the building needed a bit of elaboration, so the architect asked for something that would feel like an eyebrow or a mustache. A material study dealing with corrugated metal led to questions about whether or not a roof could receive light while still shedding water and keeping occupants dry. A method of straightening out one edge of the corrugated metal, essentially making one large curve from many, carried through to a structural system and a way to attach to the existing building.
