Folding Table Landscape
We were asked to create architectural elements for a temporary spatial installation. The point of entry for the exploration was a series of origami sketches. Through a series of folding plane studies and on to the development of a folding plywood tectonic we began to find potential formal strategies. A simple unit was developed and tested at various scales and construction types. We focused in on creating a series of surfaces on which to display the series of sculptures. While the exploration ended with a specific iteration, the possibilities of the methods and formal investigations will hopefully be valuable in the future.
